¡Hola!
This week was great. We're still working on getting more investigators
especially because we had to leave quite a few who weren't progressing. On
Sunday for the first time in a few weeks we had 3 investigators in sacrament
meeting! We also contacted a young family that has LDS friends, has been to
church before, and they're probably the first family of investigators I've had
that are actually married! They're super positive.
This week I was able to notice a couple of situations where the Spirit
guided us to people. Maybe I just need to pay a little more attention to them.
We went to visit a family of members to ask for references, but the husband was
sick so we gave him a blessing instead. Another time, we were walking the
streets looking for people to contact because we didn't have any appointments
and my companion felt we should go visit one of our new investigators to see how
she was doing. We talked a little and hinted to her to get married to her boyfriend, but she told us that she didn't want to. We asked her
why and insisted for her to tell us because there's always a reason why. She proceeded to tell us the story of her life and we were able to know what the problem was, but
I think she already resolved it.
President Vasquez asked us to send him a scripture from the Book of Mormon that we
like about the Atonement and why, so I thought I might as well share it with you
guys too! It's from Alma 7:11-13:
11 And he shall go forth, suffering pains and afflictions
and temptations of every kind; and this that the word might be fulfilled which
saith he will take upon him the pains and the sicknesses of his
people.
12 And he will take upon him death, that he may loose the
bands of death which bind his people; and he will take upon him their infirmities,
that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that he may
know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their
infirmities.
13 Now the Spirit knoweth all things; nevertheless the Son
of God suffereth according to the flesh that he might take upon him the sins of
his people, that he might blot out their transgressions according to the power of
his deliverance; and now behold, this is the testimony which is in me.
This scripture always helps me to remember all that He has done for me, how
He knows me and loves me perfectly, and how He is always ready to help me if I
come unto Him. I know that through faith, repentance, and obedience I can free
myself from temptation, sin, weakness, sickness, and my burdens can be made
light through His atoning grace. I'm grateful that I have been blessed with the
testimony of Jesus Christ and that by sharing it, I can bless the lives of other
people.
¡Levantate! ¡Podemos hacerlo ahora!
Love,
Elder San Diego
P.S. I'll make sure to include things I learn in my personal study. I
encourage you guys to start reading and praying individually and as a family if
you haven't done so already.
